This restaurant is tucked away in an old stone courtyard and has outdoor seating as well as a warm and friendly interior. It's a self-service restaurant that offers fresh, healthy fayre. There are rich soups, several entrees and everything is paid for by weight making this place a good choice for travellers who have a small appetite or need to try lots of different things. The shop next door is one of the best places to buy health food in Prague.

Dahab
Dlouha 33, Prague 1, Tel. 224 827 375

dahab

Delicate Turkish teacups, hookahs filled with fruit flavoured smoke, Arabic style downtempo music and subdued coloured lanterns make this a place you could spend hours. The kitchen speciality is couscous served in several traditional ways. Not to be missed: grilled eggplant and stuffed grape eaves. The authentic Middle Eastern plumbing in the toilets is worth a visit. Open: Mon to Sun 12.00-1.00.

Govinda
Soukenicka 27, Prague 1, Tel. 224 813 096

govinda

This restaurant is operated by the Hare Krishnas of Prague and the vegetables served are grown on their own organic farm outside the city. Every day a different entree, salad, chutney and soup is prepared and guests wait in line to order small or large portions, both generous for the money. In addition, there are freshly baked pakoras and koftas. The melodic chanting on the sound system goes well with the 'temple' environment. Open: Mon to Fri 11.00-17.00. Cash only accepted.

Maly Buddha
Uvoz 44, Prague 1, Tel. 220 51 894

This oriental tearoom and restaurant features delicious stir-fry meals, spring rolls, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. A serene setting and a great selection of teas and desserts all contribute to its popularity, so try to get there early to get a seat!

om_centrum

This doesn't seem like a restaurant at all when you first enter because you have to walk through the shop at the front of the premises. Indian imports are offered for sale. If you approach the counter you'll find a wide selection of authentic and very healthy traditional dishes prepared on the spot. Dal soups, sabjee, birjani, chapatis, sweets and one of the only 'cha' sources in Prague. It's a great place to buy teas, incense or tapestrys. Mon to Sat 09.00-20.00. Cash only.
Radost F/X
Belehradska 120, Prague 2, Tel. 242 547 76

radost

The menu here is filled with vegetarian delights as well as meat dishes. Vegetable wraps, enormous salads and a selection of smoothies and juices are available. Those for whom a late breakfast is not a problem flock here for brunch that begins at 11.00 at weekends. Mountains of waffles, piled high with fruit, real maple syrup and omelettes start your day of sightseeing perfectly. And with its wonderfully funky and luxurious decor, Radost is just as great a place to go at the end of the day for a delicious cocktail before its famous club opens. Open: Mon to Sun 11.00-04.00.
