For those coming from western Europe or USA shopping in Prague is cheap, but the country is gradually building itself up economically and will probably rival its richer neighbours in the future.

It could have been said once that Prague had very little to offer shoppers because it was still coming out of the throes of communism, but today this is no longer the case. The designer fashion shops, music stores, a wide range of traditional craft markets and shops, computers, electronics, luxury goods and countless other business fields are hitting Prague by storm. The central business district is busy round the clock and competition in increasing and gradually, one hopes, pushing out the old grumpy communist service.
