According to Czech law foreigners, who wants to work in
the Czech Republic must have a work permit (except special groups of refugees
and family members of diplomats). Firms, which employ persons without work
permit can be punished with fines on 250.000 Kc the first time and up to
1.000.000 Kc the second time.
To apply for work permit following procedure must be followed:
|
| 1. |
The employer as well as the employee must fill out an
apply form, which must be handed in to the local job office (Pracovní
úrad). Hereafter you can just hope there is no unemployed Czech
person with the same qualifications as you (the chance that the job office
finds a qualified Czech is very low, as the unemployment rate in Prague
is 0.3%). |
| 2. |
When the applicant has been approved by the local job
office he must bring the approved application to the main job office at the
address Zborovská 11, Prague 5. It is important to bring following
papers with you:
Passport, or copy of passport.
Documents, which proves that the applicant has the same qualifications
for the job, e.g. graduation papers.
Last work permit in case of renewal.
Residence permit, if applicant has obtained one .
|
The work permit is in most cases valid one year and must
be renewed at least six weeks before expiry date. The same document (from
above mentioned procedure) must be brought along, except for graduation
papers. |
